Drawboard PDF was then preinstalled on the Surface 3, Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book. It allowed them to take strides toward a paperless office. We saw thousands of users creating and using Drawboard PDF to do amazing things. We looked to architects, engineers and construction professionals to help shape Drawboard PDF. Soon afterwards, the release of Drawboard PDF coincided with release of the Microsoft Surface devices, and the ability to write with digital ink represented an opportunity for us to create a solution that other software had not yet achieved. So in 2012 I founded Drawboard, seeking a solution. Worse still was the productivity loss of sharing single, physical, master sets. Our process was manual and resulted in constant rework if we made even a minor mistake. The amount of material wastage created by paper-based markup was staggering. In 2012, I worked as a chemical engineer.
